DOJ Prosecutors Quit Over Handling of Fatal ICE Shooting

(AURN News) – A rupture has emerged inside the Justice Department.

At least six top officials from the DOJ Civil Rights Division resigned after leadership decided not to examine the fatal shooting of Renee Good, who was killed by an ICE officer in Minnesota earlier this month. The decision came from Harmeet Dhillon, who runs the division tasked with reviewing deadly uses of force by law enforcement. Prosecutors say that responsibility was sidelined in the decision-making process.

Federal officials moved to block Minnesota investigators, kept evidence under federal control, and publicly defended the officer. Before any review was completed, officials said Good tried to run the agent over. Although video shows the opposite, prosecutors say pressure mounted to scrutinize Good’s widow for potential ties to extremist organizations. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labeled Good a domestic terrorist.
