Dr. Bernice King Corrects the Record and Corrects Trump

(AURN News) – “A recent claim by President Donald Trump that the 1964 Civil Rights Act harmed white Americans is just wrong, and it is dangerous.” That was Dr. Bernice King, the daughter of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., speaking directly to Donald Trump from the pulpit of Ebenezer Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Her sharp rebuke of Trump came as she addressed his false claims about the Civil Rights Act. She framed this moment that America is in as a moral crisis and warned that America has been hollowed out by fear, disinformation, extremism and the erosion of democracy – from Gaza to Haiti, from widening economic inequality, and from the normalization of dehumanization.

King closed with a call to action, pointing out that this is not a day to admire the dream but to carry it.
