Easter Escalation: Trump Eyes Iran Strikes Amid Legal Concerns

WASHINGTON (AURN News) — President Donald Trump is escalating rhetoric on Iran, publicly signaling that U.S. strikes could soon target not only military sites but also critical infrastructure such as power systems and bridges.

The warning came on Easter morning in a post on Truth Social. It was tied directly to Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint responsible for moving about one-fifth of the world’s oil supply.

Since traffic through the corridor has been restricted, oil prices have surged past $100 a barrel, putting pressure on global markets and U.S. consumers alike.

Targeting infrastructure used by civilians could raise concerns under the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit attacks on nonmilitary targets.

The administration argues some of the sites may support Iran’s defense capabilities. Experts warn that logic could stretch the definition of a military target too far.

On Capitol Hill, backlash is mounting. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., called the rhetoric “reckless.”
