Entergy, Energy Transfer to send natural gas to north Louisiana

(The Center Square) — Entergy Louisiana signed a 20-year agreement with pipeline operator Energy Transfer on Tuesday for natural gas deliveries that will generate electricity to Meta’s AI data center in northeast Louisiana and the local grid.

Energy Transfer agreed to transport about 250 million cubic feet of natural gas a day, beginning in February 2028, via the company’s 200-mile-long Tiger Pipeline to a supply hub at Delhi in Richland Parish. The site is near two new combined-cycle turbine generation units planned by Entergy, the companies said jointly in a statement.

This agreement “creates a foundation for Louisiana to lead the way on American energy and artificial intelligence dominance,” the companies said.

“This agreement is another example of how we’re making smart, long-term investments to ensure reliable, affordable power for our customers while supporting major economic development projects across our state,” said Phillip May, president and CEO of Entergy Louisiana.

“Working with partners like Energy Transfer allows us to secure the fuel supply needed to power critical facilities like the ones in northern Louisiana and support our state’s growth for decades to come,” May said.

Entergy plans to build two 750-megawatt power generation units at the Titanium Advanced Power Station, which is located near Holly Ridge on the former Franklin Farms mega site on land near the Meta data center site.

Energy Transfer agreed to build a 12-mile extension of the Tiger Pipeline that would potentially increase the natural gas supplied to the two Entergy power units to 1 billion cubic feet a day, enabling future expansion of Meta’s data center project.

The natural gas will be sourced from Energy Transfer’s pipeline network, which runs approximately 140,000 miles across 44 states and connects to all major oil and gas production basins in the lower 48.
