Federal court sentences Mexican man for methamphetamine conspiracy

(The Center Square) – Javier De Leon Marin, 32, of Monterrey, Mexico, received a 108-month prison sentence and two years of supervised release from a federal court in Omaha, Nebraska.

De Leon Marin received that prison time for his involvement in a methamphetamine conspiracy. Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter Jr. also required him to forfeit nearly $170,000 that law enforcement seized in the investigation, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nebraska announced.

In April 2022, an undercover Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration got in touch with a Mexican-based source of supply about buying four ounces of meth to be delivered to the undercover agent in Omaha. Both sides made those arrangements. Later that day, Gerson Ortega-Corado arrived and accepted $1,000 for four ounces of meth.

About a month later, the agent again contacted the Mexican-based source of supply and arranged for a one-pound delivery of meth. That same day, the agent met with De Leon Marin and paid $3,700 for 418 grams of pure meth.

After the controlled buy, investigators followed De Leon Marin to different locations. It included an apartment in the area of 10th and Bancroft in Omaha, plus several storage units.

In June 2022, the DEA carried out search warrants at the 10th and Bancroft apartment and the storage units. It seized 26.3 kilograms of pure meth and $160,000 at the 10th and Bancroft location. Agents seized $31,562, $2,303, and $6,980 respectively, at the storage units.

The DEA, FBI, and the Omaha Police Department investigated the case.
