Fire & Fury: Political Violence May Be to Blame for Fire at Judge’s House

(AURN News) — A South Carolina judge who clashed with the Trump administration is now watching her family fight for their lives after her home went up in flames.

Investigators say Judge Diane Goodstein’s beach house exploded late Saturday morning. She was not home, but her husband, former state Sen. Arnold Samuel Goodstein, and their son were pulled from the fire by neighbors using kayaks. Both remain hospitalized.

Judge Goodstein had received death threats for weeks after she blocked South Carolina from handing over millions of voter records to President Donald Trump’s Justice Department.

That temporary restraining order was later overturned by the South Carolina Supreme Court, allowing the state to share voter data with President Donald Trump’s Justice Department. But the hostility toward the judge has only grown since the ruling.

Officials have not yet determined whether the fire was arson. However, extra patrols have been assigned to protect judges statewide.

Several Trump administration officials, including adviser Stephen Miller, have publicly criticized judges who ruled against the president, as political violence continues to rise.
