Fulton County DA Fani Willis Takes The Stand To Set The Record Straight

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis gave emotional testimony in the hearing to determine whether she should be tossed from former President Donald Trump’s Georgia election subversion case. She was being pressed about vacations she took with Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Wade earlier took the stand in a hearing to determine whether Willis should be tossed from Donald Trump’s Georgia election case because of their romantic relationship. Wade said they split the cost of trips to Aruba, Napa, Belize, and a cruise, and Willis paid in cash. But they could not produce receipts.

Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade, center, representing the District Attorney’s office, speaks before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, not pictured, in Atlanta on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023. Donald Trump will not face trial next month in Georgia after McAfee ruled Thursday that the former president and 16 others accused of illegally trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election will be tried separately from two lawyers in the case. Lawyers Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro had filed demands for a speedy trial, and McAfee set their trial to begin Oct. 23. (Miguel Martinez/Atlanta Journal-Constitution via AP, Pool)

Willis also said she doesn’t have bank receipts but she has always had a lot of cash inside of her home and used that to pay for the trips. She added that she is not the one on trial. Earlier, Willis said all the accusations against her were lies.
