Gas Prices Top $4 as Iran War Drives Costs Higher

(AURN News) — As the war with Iran continues, Americans are paying more at the pump, with gas prices climbing back above $4 a gallon for the first time since 2022.

According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular gas is now $4.14, up from $3.98 last week and $2.99 last month.

AAA says the last time prices remained elevated for an extended period was in 2022, when gas prices stayed high from March through August and briefly peaked at $5 a gallon.

As prices rise, demand has started to fall.

There is also a wide gap depending on where you live. California currently has the highest average at $5.89 a gallon, while Oklahoma has some of the lowest prices at $3.27.

And it is not just gas. Electric vehicle charging costs are also increasing, with West Virginia seeing the highest public charging rates at 53 cents per kilowatt-hour.
