Georgia gas prices continue to fall

(The Center Square) – Gas prices are down 2 cents in Georgia this week to $2.79 for a gallon of regular unleaded, according to AAA.

The cost is 9 cents less than last month and 14 cents less than last year.

“Georgia drivers are feeling the seasonal shift, not just in the air, but at the pump,” said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group. “With crude oil prices staying low and demand cooling off, gas prices are following suit, offering timely relief as fall rolls on.”

The most expensive fuel is in the Savannah area at an average of $3.01 a gallon. The Catoosa-Dade-Walker region has the least expensive averages at about $2.73 a gallon, according to AAA.

Gas prices in states surrounding Georgia are lower except for Florida ($2.91). Tennessee’s median cost is $2.62 a gallon, Alabama is $2.65, South Carolina is $2.72 and North Carolina is $2.76.

Georgians who drive electric vehicles will see no change at charging stations, AAA said. The price remains 36 cents per kilowatt hour.

The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.05. California once again takes the high spot for fuel costs at $4.59 a gallon, according to AAA. Mississippi has the lowest average at $2.59.
