Bishop Noel Jones’ Wife Assaulted at their Church
Loretta Jones, wife of Bishop Noel Jones, was allegedly ‘punched’ and knocked unconscious in an unprovoked attack during a church service at the conclusion of morning worship at the City of Refuge in Los Angeles, CA, by a former church member who claimed Jones gave her daughter cancer. The woman, later self-identified as Regina Adams, posted a video of herself following the attack, admitting to assaulting Jones, whom she alleged orchestrated a series of attacks against her daughter that ultimately resulted in her poor health. There’s no official word on whether charges will be brought against the alleged assailant, whom some believe may have experienced a mental crisis.
175-Year-Old Church Becomes Beacon of Hope for Victims of Maui Wildfires
In Hawaii, amidst the charred rubble stands the Maria Lanakila Catholic Church, whose name means “Lady of Victory.” That name has become a symbol of hope for those from the Lahaina Island of Maui that had been otherwise devastated in fires that claimed more than 100 lives and burned more than 1,000 buildings. Pictures of the church have been popping up online in photos and videos shared on social media showing the more than 175-year-old church standing seemingly unscathed and intact amid the smoldering surroundings. The church was also one of the sites visited by President Biden in his recent trip to lend support the people of Hawaii.

Five-time Grammy-winning collective, Maverick City Music, has debuted their new song “God Problems” featuring Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine. “God Problems” written by Raine, Daniel Bashta, Ryan Ellis, and Chris Davenport, is featured on their 6-track upcoming project “Maverick Way EP,” due for release next month on September 15th. Maverick City Music, known for their multi-racial, multicultural presence on stage worldwide, has also announced their plans to embark on a 16-date tour, starting Tuesday, October 31, with special guest artists Travis Greene, Noah Schnakey, Todd Galberth, Forward City Music, and JWLKRS.
Hillsong Church Founder Brian Houston Found Not Guilty
In Australia, Brian Houston, the founder of the Hillsong Church, was recently ruled not guilty of concealing his father Frank Houston’s child sex crimes. Houston, 69, was charged two years ago with concealing a serious indictable offense. He resigned from his roles at the Hillsong Church months later. Sydney Magistrate Gareth Christofi ruled Brian Houston had a reasonable excuse for not reporting Frank Houston’s offenses to police and accepted that Houston believed the victim Brett Sengstock in the 1970s did not want the abuse reported to police.

Events Planned Commemorating 60th Anniversary of March on Washington
This month marks the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington led by slain civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The March, also known as The Great March on Washington, was held in Washington, D.C., on August 28, 1963, to advocate for the civil and economic rights of African Americans. On August 26th, Martin Luther King III, Arndrea Waters King, and Rev. Al Sharpton will participate in events to define the continuation of Dr. King, Jr.’s work that will bring together the three global civil rights leaders and partner organizations from across the country to evaluate the progress made to achieve Dr. King’s “Dream,” and to highlight the work still needed to bring about peace, justice, and equity in the world.
