Mark Hubbard & The Voices Release Tribute to the Late Rev. Timothy Wright
Mark Hubbard & The Voices have released their highly anticipated tribute to the late Reverend Timothy Wright, a remake of the gospel classic “For the Rest of My Life,” led by Reginald Staggers. “This song is a favorite of mine,” says Hubbard. “When we began recording our new project, I wanted a classic song because we can’t ever forget the greats who have gone before us.” The original song was released 20 years ago in 2003 by Rev. Wright and the New York Fellowship Mass Choir. Rev. Wright, known as “The Godfather of Gospel,” was a Grammy-nominated gospel singer and composer who died April 24, 2009, age 61 as a result of injuries sustained from a car crash that previously claimed the lives of his beloved wife Betty and grandson D.J. The new song is the second release from their sixth album, “Voice of a Survivor,” will to be released on Hezekiah Walker’s Hez House Entertainment.
Trailer Released for Jay-Z’s “The Book of Clarence”
Jay-Z, rapper/entrepreneur and founder of Roc Nation whose real name is Shawn Carter, will be debuting a new movie called “The Book of Clarence,” on January 12, 2024. The film, set in 33AD, uses a biblical backdrop to tell the story of a streetwise drug dealer named Clarence, played by actor LaKeith Stanfield, who becomes captivated by the power and fame of Jesus of Nazareth and his apostles and decides to present himself as a savior to the people to garner the same recognition as Christ. Issues, however, arise when Clarence is unable to perform miracles and other acts and resorts to trickery.
Jay-Z, who is best known as a rapper and entrepreneur, said he was uncomfortable with the film being called a “faith-based movie,” and already there many Christians who share the same reservations and take issue with the concept of the portrayal of a fake Jesus. Nevertheless, moviegoers will likely still flock to see the film to witness Clarence’s sordid journey as a phony messiah who seemingly eventually converts to a genuine follower of Christ.
