Well, he’s back. Steve Bannon, long-time ally and adviser to Donald Trump, is in the spotlight after being released early Tuesday from federal prison. Bannon, 70, served a four-month sentence for refusing to cooperate with a congressional subpoena in the investigation of the January 6th Capitol attack.
He left the Danbury, Connecticut prison and jumped back on air on his podcast, saying he’s more fired up than ever to help Trump win the presidency. At a press conference in Manhattan, he claimed Democrats wanted him behind bars to silence him, though a jury convicted him of contempt and a judge sentenced him.
Bannon originally went to prison in July after the Supreme Court refused his appeal. He, who calls himself a political prisoner, is still appealing the conviction and faces more legal trouble in December when he’ll stand trial in New York on fraud and conspiracy charges related to his “Build a Wall” campaign.
