ComEd Four defendant sentenced

Former ComEd lobbyist John Hooker has been sentenced to 1.5 years in federal prison and ordered to pay a $500,000 fine for his role in a scheme to bribe former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan.

Hooker and three others were convicted of conspiracy, bribery and falsifying records in May of 2023. The remaining ComEd Four defendants are scheduled to be sentenced over the next few weeks.

Pritzker wants impact review of tariffs

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has issued an executive order for state agencies to evaluate how Trump administration tariffs will impact Illinois industries and consumers.

The order announced Monday directs state agencies to identify vulnerabilities and disruptions, prepare for medical supply chain disruptions, stabilize food assistance programs, protect infrastructure investment and strengthen emergency preparedness.

Illinois first responders going to Texas

Members of an Urban Search and Rescue team from Illinois are headed to Texas to help with operations after more deadly flooding. The 39 rescuers from fire departments, deployed as part of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System. They’re expected to be there for the next two weeks.
