Illinois quick hits: Department of Corrections hiring; Illinois Products Expo this weekend

Family files wrongful death lawsuit

The family of a Carol Stream man shot and killed by police on Feb. 3 has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the police force and the city.

Carol Stream police said two officers shot at 30-year-old Isaac Goodlow while responding to a domestic violence call. His family claims Goodlow was sleeping when he was killed. An independent investigation is continuing.

Department of Corrections hiring

The Illinois Department of Corrections will participate in at least 20 hiring events open to the public in various locations throughout March and April for anyone interested in learning about the agency’s career opportunities.

IDOC recruiters will be on hand to answer questions and help individuals apply on the spot. The agency is currently seeking correctional officers, nurses, wardens, office associates, social workers and more to join its team.

Officials said there are job opportunities at more than 30 statewide IDOC locations.

Illinois Products Expo this weekend

The Illinois Department of Agriculture will host the Illinois Product Expo Saturday and Sunday, March 2 and 3, in the Orr Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

The Illinois Product Expo has brought Illinois food companies and consumers together for 25 years. More than 70 vendors will offer samples and sell products. The Illinois Wine Experience will feature 16 Illinois wineries.
