Diaper shortage reported among migrants

Migrant families reportedly are in need of diapers and other hygiene products in Chicago shelters. According to the Chicago Tribune, some families have been reusing dirty diapers because they do not have enough.

The Southwest Collective, one of the aid groups assisting migrants, has been handing out personal hygiene items, food and clothing on a daily basis, but they said they can’t keep up with the demand.

The teacher then alerted the administration and the gun was located in the child’s backpack. The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office said the boy’s mother is a felon and cannot legally have a gun.

Controversial police recruitment ad taken down

The chief of police in Peoria is apologizing for a controversial recruitment ad that referenced a violent video game. The ad said to “stop playing games and answer the Call of Duty,” a reference to the first-person shooter video game.

The ad has since been taken down from Facebook. Going forward, Chief Eric Echevarria said they will vet recruitment ads with non-police partners to ensure the messaging is acceptable.
