Judge holds order to keep Trump off ballot

A Cook County Judge ruled the Illinois State Board of Elections must take former President Donald Trump’s name off the state’s March 19 primary ballot Wednesday. But Judge Tracie Porter placed her order on hold until Friday to allow an appeal.

Porter issued her decision after a group of voters who tried to remove Trump’s name from the primary ballot over the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol sued to counter the Illinois State Board of Election’s rejection of its effort.

11 tornadoes confirmed

The National Weather Service has confirmed at least 11 tornadoes touched down across Illinois Tuesday.

Among the confirmed twisters to make landfall were Sugar Grove to Batavia and Mundelein to Hoffman Estates. Damage from the storms consisted of downed trees and damaged homes across the area, with some of the worst damage occurring around the Batavia and Geneva areas.

Scratch-off ticket yields $1 million

While stopping for gas, an Illinois woman decided to buy a scratch-off lottery ticket that featured her favorite color of purple. It turned out to be a good move because the $25 ticket ended up winning her $1 million.

The woman bought the Diamond Crossword ticket at the BP station in Palos Heights. The gas station will receive one percent of the prize, or $10,000.
