Illinois quick hits: LaHood says Dems fear-mongering over SNAP cuts

Be prepared for extreme heat

July is Extreme Heat Safety Month.

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security is reminding everyone to hydrate with water, wear light-colored, lightweight and loose-fitting clothing and find shade and cooling centers during extreme heat, which is defined as high heat and humidity temperatures above 90 degrees for at least two to three days.

LaHood: Dems fear-mongering over SNAP cuts

While Gov. J.B. Pritzker says he’s “raising awareness” about the impacts of the so-called “big, beautiful bill” on food subsidies, a Republican congressman says far-left Democrats are ramping up their fear-mongering.

Pritzker said President Donald Trump’s spending bill endangers families that rely on SNAP. Illinois U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood said that’s “false” and the focus is preserving the program for those who need it most while increasing transparency.
