Protests continue in Chicago
Marchers filled the streets of downtown Chicago Wednesday evening, supporting Palestinians and demanding all support for Israel to be halted.
Since the surprise attack on Israel by the terrorist group Hamas last weekend, the Israeli military has said more than 1,200 Israelis, including 189 soldiers, have been killed, while Palestinian officials say more than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed.
At least 22 Americans have also died. A Chicago police officer said he has lost 10 family members to the bombing in Gaza.
Bomb threat suspect arrested
A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with levying dozens of threats of bombings against dozens of libraries and businesses.
According to police, the suspect is a Skokie resident who was apprehended after an operation that involved the FBI Joint Terrorist Task Force. Morton Grove police said a total of 12 threats were levied against the village, as well as its public library and other businesses.
Mississippi River low
Water levels in the Mississippi River fell to an all-time low this week. Data from the National Weather Service shows the water level at Memphis fell to an elevation of minus 11.5 feet on Wednesday.
Several other records were set along the river, including at Cairo with a level of 4.5 feet. The low levels have disrupted barge traffic and have allowed salt water to move up the Mississippi River in Louisiana.
