Restaurant lawsuit claims defamation over TikTok user post

A Chicago restaurant has filed a defamation lawsuit against a woman who accused restaurant staff of injuring her and posted the claim on TikTok.

The lawsuit charges a count of defamation with over $30,000 in damages due to canceled reservations and one-star reviews, as well as damage to Hubbard Inn’s reputation.

Video footage disputes the woman’s claim that she was roughed up as she was escorted out of the building.

State Police to bump pay for starting troopers

Illinois State Police are offering an increase in compensation to attract qualified candidates.

Effective July 1, incoming troopers will earn a total amount of pay above $90,000 upon graduation from the Illinois State Police Academy. ISP extended the deadline for the next round of applications to May 1.

March Madness for Illinois manufacturers

As March Madness gets underway around the country, the next stage of naming “The Coolest Thing Made in Illinois” is moving onto the Sweet 16.

The Illinois Manufacturers Association Makers Madness kicked off earlier this month with nominations of more than 200 products made across Illinois. The top 16 will go head-to-head as the public will vote to determine a winner.
