State to receive $23 million in opioid settlement

Illinois could receive more than $23 million from a recently announced settlement states had with eight pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office announced the settlement totalling $720 million nationwide, alleging opioid manufacturers worsened the nationwide opioid crisis.

Three charged with COVID fraud

Three individuals face federal charges for allegedly obtaining more than $2 million in small business loans during the COVID pandemic.

Federal prosecutors announced a grand jury indicted Tanika and Antonio Echols and Tamia Thompson Davis on fraud charges related to the Paycheck Protection Program and other relief efforts.

Charges include wire fraud and money laundering.

Lithium battery producer to relocate to Illinois

Pure Lithium Corporation is relocating to Illinois from Boston.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s office announced Thursday that state incentives through the Reimagining Electric Vehicles Illinois Act are included in the move.

The company, which manufactures lithium metal batteries with a focus on drones and defense, consumer electronics, energy storage and electric vehicles, will invest $46 million in the state.
