TV reporter attacked in Chicago’s Loop

Television reporter Leah Hope says she hopes the man charged with attacking her in downtown Chicago gets the support he needs.

Hope told her ABC7 colleague Eric Horng that she got in her car on State Street the afternoon of January 2 when Noah Johnson, 43, pulled her out of the vehicle by her lower jaw, ripping her tongue from the bottom of her mouth and tearing ligaments in her jaw.

Hope said four men who pulled Johnson away were “angels.”

Tom Pritzker steps down from Hyatt post

Hyatt Hotels board chairman Thomas Pritzker has abruptly retired. Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s cousin expressed his regret for associating with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, following the release of several emails between the two men.

Thomas Pritzker began his Hyatt executive responsibilities in 1980 and had been executive chairman since 2004.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Tom Pritzker remained a University of Chicago trustee.

500,000 have medical debt erased

Gov. J.B. Pritzker has announced that more than 500,000 Illinois residents have had their medical debts erased by state government.

According to the governor’s office, each state taxpayer dollar spent leads to more than $100 in medical debt erased. The state’s medical debt relief program has relieved a total of $1.1 billion.
