Immigration Raids Spark Clash Between Trump and Chicago

Chicago has become the latest flashpoint as President Donald Trump threatens expanded immigration raids and possible National Guard deployment, according to The Associated Press.

City leaders are resisting federal pressure, reaffirming sanctuary policies that prohibit police from assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Mayor Brandon Johnson recently signed an order forbidding collaboration, warning that cooperation would erode community trust.

Still, tensions are rising: ICE detained Chicago residents in June, sparking protests and accusations that police cleared paths for federal agents.

Experts caution that any local-federal entanglement blurs accountability and undermines public safety.
