Incumbents lead in Bellevue City Council contests

(The Center Square) – Two incumbents and two new candidates are leading in the Bellevue City Council, based on preliminary results from King County Elections.

Incumbent John Stokes is leading challenger Paul Clark with 8,569 or 54.3% of the vote, while Clark has 7,169 votes or 45.5% of the vote. Incumbent Janice Zahn also leads her opponent Betsi Hummer with 10,577 or 66.2% of the vote, while Hummer has garnered 5,274 or 33.6% of the vote.

Candidate Mo Malakoutian is leading Alex Tsimerman with 12,796 or 82.8% of the vote, while Tsimerman has 2,588 or 16.75%. Candidate Dave Hamilton is leading against Bil Hirt with 12,583 or 81.54% of the vote, while Hirt has received 2,796 or 18.1% of the vote. They are running for the seats currently held by councilmembers Jennifer Robertson and Jeremy Barksdale, who chose not to run for reelection.

According to King County Elections, there have been 16,248 ballots counted from Bellevue voters, and there are 80,529 registered voters in the city.
