Jennifer Lopez is set to speak at a Kamala Harris rally in Las Vegas on Thursday, following backlash over a comedian’s recent racist joke about Puerto Rico at a Donald Trump event.
Lopez, who endorsed Harris earlier this week, will address “the importance of voting and what’s at stake in this election.”
A comedian, Tony Hinchcliffe, sparked outrage after referring to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage” during Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden. Celebrities and politicians condemned the remarks, with Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny sharing an emotional video about the island, while Ricky Martin urged his followers to support Harris.
The controversy may affect Trump’s support among Puerto Rican voters, particularly in key states like Pennsylvania, which is home to significant Puerto Rican communities.
