(AURN News) — Another Trump lawsuit has been dismissed. A Florida federal judge tossed President Donald Trump’s $15 billion defamation case against The New York Times, criticizing the 85-page filing as improper, laced with self-praise, and heavy on political attacks instead of legal arguments.
U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday noted that the 85-page filing did not raise the defamation claim until page 80 and wrote: “A complaint is not a megaphone for public relations or a podium for a passionate oration at a political rally.” He gave Trump’s team 28 days to refile, with a strict 40-page limit.
The lawsuit accused the Times and four of its reporters, along with publisher Penguin Random House, of damaging Trump’s reputation as a businessman.
It is the latest move in his long-running fight with the press. Trump has previously sued The Wall Street Journal, CBS and ABC, settling with the last two for $16 million each.
