Kemp: Korean company will create 520 jobs with new plant

(The Center Square) – A Korean company plans to open a new permanent magnet factory in Columbus creating 520 new jobs, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said Wednesday.

JS Link America Inc., a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Korea-based biotech company JS Link, will begin operations in early 2027 in the Muscogee Technology Park in Columbus, according to Kemp’s office. The new factory will be a 130,000-square-foot facility.

The company is making a $223 million investment, according to Kemp.

“JS Link America strengthens Georgia’s role in securing the U.S. supply chain in industries such as aerospace, mobility, and energy,” Kemp said.

The available jobs will be in the engineering, production, construction, administrative and management roles.

“Permanent magnets are essential in everything from electric vehicles to jet engines and drones, and developing this technology in the United States strengthens our national security and economic resilience,” said Pat Wilson, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “Our partnerships with Korea power innovation and opportunity.

The annual production capacity of the new factory is 3,000 tons, according to a news release.

“JS Link plans to be a part of a value chain focused entirely on Western nations to meet the growing demand for permanent magnets sourced from strategic allies such as Korea,” said Jun Y. Lee, JS Link America Inc.’s CEO. “This new chain will cover the entire process, from the procurement of essential rare-earth materials to the final manufacturing of the magnets.”
