Man shot at federal courthouse in Harrisburg

(The Center Square) – Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo confirmed there was a shooting inside the federal courthouse in Harrisburg Monday morning.

The courthouse remains closed while the FBI conducts its investigation. Both local police and federal agencies were at the scene, according to The Associated Press.

Chardo said a guard from the US Marshal Service shot a man wielding a knife at a first floor security checkpoint just before 9 a.m. at Sylvia Rambo Courthouse on North 6th Street.

The marshal was unharmed, Chardo said, while the man’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Further details are expected to come from the FBI as they become available.
