Medical Notes: How To Get ‘FOREVER Chemicals’ Out Of Your Water, A New Purpose For Your Smartwatch, And How To Get Better Sleep

Chemotherapy has long been the standard option, but its side effects can be just as devastating for the patient as the cancer. Instead, new research in the journal Chemical Science reveals how to make this treatment more precise through using ultrasound waves. The drug remains inactive when it enters the body, but when ultrasound is applied over the cancerous area it activates the chemo just in that one spot. Researchers believe this approach could greatly minimize the damaging effects of chemotherapy.

Your smartwatch is good for more than just counting steps.

A new study, published in Plus One examined how effective this technology is at alerting medical professionals to veterans experiencing PTSD. Though this was only a preliminary study, researchers are happy with the veterans’ willingness to participate and believe it could be a major step towards bettering their mental health.
