Medical Notes: How Vitamin D Can Fight Your Allergies, America’s Impending Population Shortage, And The Care Disparity With Dementia Patients

Why is there a care gap for dementia patients?

A new study in the journal Nature Aging reveals that at least one in five people with dementia don’t receive any help with daily living. This persists at all economic levels and regions of the world. Researchers are calling this a public health crisis, since a lack of basic care increases e-r visits, depression, and early death. The study’s authors say we need to increase financial investments and caregiver staffing around the world to hopefully fix this issue. (Yale)

Is sunlight good for your nose?

A vitamin-d nasal spray could be the key to improving our sense of smell. Research in the journal International Forum Of Allergy And Rhinology reveals that this product can reduce nasal inflammation. Though oral supplements don’t work, applying vitamin-d directly to the nasal tissue seems to be much more effective. Scientists hope this will one day help those experiencing long covid symptoms. New research in the Journal Of Marriage And Family reveals that the number of Americans who never want children has doubled over the last twenty years. In that same time, the amount of people who are planning to have kids in the future dropped by twenty percent.
