Nationwide ‘No Kings Day’ Rallies Oppose Trump’s Military Parade

On June 14, President Donald Trump will roll out a Bastille-style parade down Pennsylvania Avenue, marking his 79th birthday, Flag Day, and the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary — complete with 6,600 troops, tanks, helicopters and reenactments.

Across the country, activists have organized a “No Kings Day” movement, calling for more than 1,800 local demonstrations in every state and rejecting what they describe as an authoritarian spectacle.

There will be no “No Kings Day” in Washington, D.C., but demonstrations are planned in surrounding areas such as Virginia and Maryland.

Protest coalitions, including the ACLU and , are even urging participants to wave American flags at these peaceful rallies to reclaim the symbol of democracy.

Trump said from the Oval Office, “The protesters will be met with heavy force.”The estimated cost of Trump’s parade is $45 million.
