Nevada gas prices see drop, but still sit well above national average

(The Center Square) – Nevada’s average gas price has dropped 13 cents in the last week, according to data from AAA.

Last week, AAA reported a 19-cent decline in the state’s average for a gallon of regular gas, which was the second largest decrease in the country’s.

The decline in gas prices comes amid the war between Israel and Hamas, and while that conflict has some motorists wondering whether prices are going to rise, AAA spokesman Andrew Gross expects the effect to “remain muted.”

“As long as this war does not spread to include more countries in the region, the effect on the oil market will remain muted,” Gross said in a statement. “Here in the U.S., there are now nine states with some county gas averages below $3 a gallon, and this number will likely increase in the coming weeks.”

The national average for regular gas is $3.60, according to AAA. Nevadans are now paying on average $4.78 for regular, $5.04 for mid-grade and $5.27 for premium. Diesel runs an average of $5.12.

Humboldt, Lander, Elko, White Pine, Lyon, Churchill, Eureka and Lincoln counties have prices below the state average. Clark, Mineral, Douglas and Washoe counties have prices above the average.

Other states seeing big decreases in recent days include Washington, California, Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan and Minnesota.
