NYT Poll Reveals Trump Leads Biden, Majority Believe Country Headed in Wrong Direction

(AURN News) – A recent New York Times/Siena poll conducted at the end of February has unveiled challenges for the Biden administration. Former President Trump maintains a lead over President Biden, with 48% of registered voters favoring Trump compared to Biden’s 43%.

Beyond the head-to-head comparison, the poll delved into public sentiment around the nation’s trajectory. A staggering 65% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, believing that the country is headed in the wrong direction. This sentiment was further dissected, revealing that 62% of men and 68% of women share the concern that the nation as a whole is on an undesirable path.

The hypothetical match-ups presented in the poll add to the Biden administration’s woes. In a potential face-off with Republican hopeful Nikki Haley, Biden trails significantly, securing only 35% compared to Haley’s 45%. In a matchup between Vice President Kamala Harris and Trump, Trump maintained a lead with 47% to Harris’s 41%. Of the 980 registered voters polled, 12% of respondents identified as Black, and a majority, 73%, as white.
