Ohio voter registration ends today, voting opens Tuesday

(The Center Square) – A new tool to keep track of registration data has been launched by Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

Registration for voting in November ends with the close of business Monday and early in-person voting begins Tuesday in an election that has no statewide or federal spots on the ballot this year. Voters will have countless municipal council elections, along with school board seats and tax levies to decide.

LaRose announced Monday the new data dashboard, which he said is designed to help the public analyze voter registration information.

He called it a transparency tool that allows the public to see registration data at the precinct level, party affiliation and demographic information.

“Often government fails to deliver the level of transparency the public deserves,” LaRose said in a release. “We’ve changed that in a big way in our office, creating an example for other agencies and states to follow. Election integrity starts with transparency, and once again, Ohio is leading the nation.”

The dashboard is part of the state’s plan to improve retention and transparency of electronic election information.

The new platform goes along with four other relatively new voting information sites that all deliver information to the public or election officials.

The Absentee and Early Voting Dashboard shows voting trends and statistics during the early voting period.

The Daily Voter Registration Snapshots offers daily updates of voter registration changes in all 88 counties, including new registrations and removals from the rolls.

The Election Results Dashboard offers historical information on past election results and statewide voting trends.

The Enhanced Data Integrity Tools for Election Officials gives dashboard tools to all county boards of election to fix data discrepancies in the voter rolls.
