Ohio’s statewide ballot set for March 19 primary

(The Center Square) – There are no questions surrounding Donald Trump’s placement on the Ohio presidential primary ballot.

While courts will decide if Trump appears on ballots in Colorado and Maine, Ohio’s statewide ballot for its March 19 primary has been certified, according to Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

“The statewide ballot is officially certified for the March 19th primary election, and this now sets in motion the work that our county boards of elections need to do to prepare for the first ballots to go out to military and overseas voters in a little more than three weeks,” LaRose said. “We’re anticipating that 2024 will be another year of record turnout and broad public engagement in Ohio’s elections, and we’ll be ready to defend our reputation as the gold standard of elections nationwide.”

Statewide, Ohio voters will select presidential candidates, U.S. Senate and three spots on the Ohio Supreme Court.

Five Republican presidential candidates will appear on the primary ballot despite only four continuing their campaigns.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and Ohio native and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy will join Trump.

Former Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will appear on the Republican ballot even though he suspended his campaign this week.

Democrats will choose between President Joe Biden and U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn.

Incumbent U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown is the only candidate on the Democratic side for Senate.

Republicans will choose from LaRose, state Sen. Matt Dolan and businessman Bernie Moreno.

Two full-term seats on the Ohio Supreme Court will also be on the ballot, with only one Republican and one Democrat running for each seat. All will move to the November general election.

One Republican is running to fill an unexpired term on the court. Lisa Forbes and Terri Jamison are running for the Democratic nomination to fill that seat.
