Blues guitarist and pioneer Albert King was born on April 25, 1923, in Mississippi. Renowned as one of the “Three Kings of the Blues Guitar,” alongside B.B. King and Freddie King, he is celebrated for his distinctive string-bending guitar style, which imbued his music with a gritty, soulful quality.

Over a career spanning almost four decades, King’s influence was profound, shaping the trajectory of rock and roll. His iconic hit, “Born Under a Bad Sign” from 1967, garnered widespread acclaim and was later covered by legends like Jimi Hendrix and the rock band Cream.

At the age of 69, King passed away from a heart attack in 1992. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
