(AURN News) — On July 14, 1988, Michael Jackson began a record-breaking run at Wembley Stadium in London, kicking off the first of seven sold-out shows as part of his Bad World Tour.
The concerts drew a combined total of 504,000 fans, the largest attendance ever recorded for a single tour at the venue. The achievement broke the previous record held by Genesis, which had sold out four nights at the same stadium.
Jackson’s seven-night stand earned him a place in Guinness World Records, cementing his status as one of the biggest live draws in music history.
The Bad World Tour, which supported his 1987 album “Bad,” ran for more than a year and took him across four continents.
The Wembley shows remain among the most cited examples of his global popularity at the height of his career.
