Poll: Most Americans support Trump’s deportation efforts

(The Center Square) – A large majority of Americans continue to support President Donald Trump’s efforts to deport foreign nationals in the U.S. illegally.

Polling from Napolitan News Service shows that 63% of Americans approve of the administration’s deportations, which began shortly after the president was inaugurated last month, The Center Square reported.

The poll of 1,000 registered voters nationwide was conducted Feb. 13-14.

The same question was asked by Napolitan two weeks earlier, from Jan. 29-30, resulting in the same response. In both polls, 63% of those surveyed said they support deportations and 33% opposed them.

When asked if the Trump administration has either gone too far or not far enough/about right with deportations, 57% said not far enough/about right to 33% who said it has gone too far.

The poll also asked voters about recent raids conducted in apartment complexes in Aurora, Colo., where large numbers of members of a violent Venezuelan gang were living. When immigration agents arrived at the apartments, many were vacant, leading federal authorities to believe a local official leaked the information about the raids.

Those surveyed were asked: “If a local official leaked information about the raids to the media, should that person be legally prosecuted?”

A significant majority, 61%, responded “yes;” 24% said “no” and 15% said they were not sure.

The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.1%.
