Poll Shows Bad News for Biden After Debate

(AURN NEWS) – President Joe Biden faces an uphill battle following the first presidential debate in Atlanta, as a recent poll indicates a significant shift in voter sentiment toward former President Donald Trump. A CNN poll of registered voters who watched Thursday’s debate revealed that 67% believed Trump outperformed Biden, compared to just 33% who favored the incumbent’s performance.

When it comes to the partisan divide, the difference was stark, with 96% of Republicans praising Trump’s showing, while only 69% of Democrats felt Biden had a strong performance. But despite the perceived debate victory for Trump, 81% of respondents stated that the debate would not sway their voting intentions. However, 14% indicated they might reconsider their choice, with 5% reporting a definite change in their decision.

A pre-debate Gallup poll further compounds the challenges that Biden faces. Trump led in favorability ratings at 46%, compared to Biden’s 37%. Among independents, a crucial voting bloc, Trump held an 8-point pre-debate advantage in perceived leadership qualities and personality. Another major problem – age continues to be a significant concern for the Biden campaign, with 67% of those polled by Gallup believing he is too old for the presidency, nearly double the 37% who express similar concerns about Trump.
