(The Center Square) – Donald Trump is the slight pick over Kamala Harris and Josh Stein overwhelmingly over Mark Robinson in the final sampling released Monday from the East Carolina University Center for Survey Research.

Trump, the former Republican president, led the Democratic vice president 49%-47%. Stein, the Democratic attorney general, led the Republican lieutenant governor 55%-40%.

The poll of 1,250 registered voters was conducted Oct. 24 through Tuesday of last week. The margin of error is +/- 3%.

The most important issue cited was inflation and the overall cost of living (27%). The economy in general was next at 24%, meaning 51% had cash of the voter front of mind ahead of abortion (14%), border security (12%), affordable health care (4%), climate change or the environment (4%) and violent crime or public safety (3%).

Those saying inflation of economy in general chose Trump 65%-34%.

“Both the Trump and Harris campaigns have invested significant resources in North Carolina to win its 16 votes in the electoral college,” said Dr. Peter Francia, director of the ECU Center for Survey Research. “The reason for that is clear. North Carolina is still too close to call, and its electoral votes could be critical in deciding the winner of the presidential election.”
