(The Center Square) – Voters are unsure about President Donald Trump on an array of top issues 100 days into his second term.
The Center Square Voter’s Voice poll found that while Trump performs well with voters on the immigration issue, he suffers on most others.
For some of the issues, this is predictable. For instance, only 19% say abortion policy is better under Trump, compared to 39% who say it is worse and 31% who say there is no change.
On other issues where Trump might be expected to perform better, however, he doesn’t.
Trump ushered in the DOGE era and exposed a litany of wasteful spending projects, but the chaotic nature of the cuts and shuttering of entire departments have soured some voters. The same poll found that on government efficiency, only 32% say things have improved under Trump, compared to 14% who say there is no change and 45% who say things have worsened.
Similarly, despite a slight decrease in inflation recently, 55% of registered voters say things have gotten worse on inflation and the price of goods while only 20% say things have improved.
Trump famously shuttered the USAID, the federal foreign aid agency, but only 31% say international aid spending policy has improved, compared to 44% who say it has worsened.
A look at the demographic breakdown of these poll questions shows that Democrats are generally united against Trump, which is unsurprising.
And a majority of Republicans are still behind Trump’s work so far, albeit less zealously than Trump’s opponents. A few Republicans are breaking away while a few others have a “wait and see” approach that does not quite balance out the fierce, unified opposition of surveyed Democrats.
On top of that, many independent voters have been spooked by Trump’s work so far.
“Democrats are united against Trump, while Republicans are slightly split and Independents are significantly split,” David Byler, chief of research at Noble Predictive Insights, told The Center Square.
“Basically there’s a re-emerging divide within the GOP between full MAGA Trump supporters and mildly discontented skeptics,” Byler continued. “But Democrats are united. So, in a nation where most people are sorted into one of two camps, internal unity matters a lot. If Democrats are fully unified and Republicans are split, the overall verdict will tilt against Trump.”

Trump spent more time on immigration than any other issue. The Center Square Voter’s Voice Poll shows that is in fact Trump’s best issue. The president has significantly cut down on illegal immigration, begun a massive deportation campaign, attempted to end birthright citizenship for the children of illegal aliens, ended entitlements for illegal aliens, and declared cartels terrorist organizations, though some of his orders have been slowed or blocked by court rulings.
