Poll: Trump’s Approval at 15% Among Black Americans

WASHINGTON (AURN News) — A new Economist/YouGov poll shows President Donald Trump’s overall approval rating at 36% nationally, but the numbers are far lower among Black Americans.

Only 15% of Black respondents approve of the job Trump is doing, while 78% disapprove. On race relations, 12% of Black respondents approve of how Trump is handling the issue, compared with 32% of all respondents.

On immigration, 18% of Black respondents approve of Trump’s handling of the issue. On honesty, only 11% of Black Americans say Trump is trustworthy. Seven in 10 say he does not care about people like them at all.

More broadly, the poll found concerns extending beyond race. Fifty-two percent of respondents said Trump is too old for the job, and 55% said he lacks the temperament to be president.

The poll surveyed more than 1,600 adults between July 17 and July 20. As Trump heads into a critical midterm election cycle, the findings offer a snapshot of public opinion.
