Pritzker signs 15 bills into law Monday

(The Center Square) – Measures impacting higher education, hunting, driving enforcement and more are now law after Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed 15 bills Monday.

Among the measures he signed Monday were four impacting access to and the cost of colleges in Illinois.

“These bills streamline the application process for college bound seniors in Illinois, enhance support for applicants, and open up new horizons for prospective students,” Pritzker said during a signing ceremony in Chicago. “Enacting these laws is what all government work should be about – making life easier for our people.”

That package of bills includes House Bill 3522 to implement the Public University Direct Admission Program aimed at reducing application fees and streamlining admissions. House Bill 2967 expands dual credit opportunities. House Bill 3096 requires every high school to have at least one member of its staff as a contact for issues around the Free Application for Federal Student Aid program. House Bill 3097 requires FAFSA assistance during school hours.

Separately, Pritzker’s office announced the signing of 11 additional measures. See the list from the governor’s office below. More than 400 bills approved by the General Assembly during spring session remain on Pritzker’s desk.
