Red to Blue: DCCC Launches 2026 Target List

(AURN News) — The battle for control of the House is heating up as the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launches its 2026 Red to Blue program, naming 12 top-tier challengers.

From mayors to farmers and veterans, Republicans are moving to shore up defenses as some Trump-aligned policy shifts create friction in moderate districts.

On the list is Jonathan Nez, the former president of the Navajo Nation and a Democratic candidate in Arizona’s 2nd Congressional District, who says he aims to amplify the voices of marginalized communities.

The DCCC’s Frontline program is directing resources to protect Black incumbents including Rep. Don Davis, D-N.C., and Rep. Jahana Hayes, D-Conn.

These incumbents are key targets in Republican efforts to reshape the 2026 electoral map. From Louisiana to Florida, GOP leaders have advanced redistricting plans aligned with Trump-backed policies that critics say could weaken majority-Black districts and potentially lead to one of the most significant declines in Black congressional representation in decades.

Several of those maps are facing ongoing legal challenges under the Voting Rights Act.
