Report: Scottsdale is the top city for jobs nationwide

(The Center Square) – Scottsdale, Arizona, is considered the best city in the U.S. for jobs, according to a new ranking from WalletHub.

The city received its high ranking because of 12% job growth, according to the personal finance website. Scottsdale ranked first in job market out of the 182 cities listed, and sixth in the socio-economics rank. Wallethub got the numbers by looking at 31 factors to determine the rankings for people looking for jobs.

Scottsdale was far from alone compared to other Arizona cities in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Tempe ranked 13th, Chandler ranked 26th, Phoenix ranked 37th, Gilbert ranked 48th, Mesa came in 56th, Glendale was 74th and Peoria was 114th. All of the cities are in Maricopa County, which is the largest-gaining county in the country as of 2022, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

As for southern Arizona, Tucson ranked 120th with a 129th-place job market rating but a 90th socio-economics ranking.

Tampa, Florida, placed second, followed by Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as Columbia, Maryland, and Austin, Texas.

“With the U.S. experiencing a low unemployment rate and many employers still having labor shortages, now is an ideal time to find a job. Currently, workers have a lot of negotiating power. Well-qualified job candidates are in a great position to acquire competitive salaries and benefits,” Wallethub analyst Cassandra Happe said in a statement.

The state’s job market has been marked by major investments in several industries, particularly involving technology and semiconductors. In Scottsdale, Dutch semiconductor company ASM announced they were developing a new campus in Scottsdale, which they estimated to be an over $300 million investment, The Center Square reported in December.

“The impact and relevance of what we do has never been greater today,” ASM International President and CEO Benjamin Loh said at the time.
