School District of Philadelphia may extend lobbying contract

(The Center Square) – The School District of Philadelphia scheduled a vote to extend its current contract with The DT firm for government lobbyist efforts through June 2027 for $528,125.

The contract will be decided at the Board of Education meeting on Thursday.

The DT firm provides general government affairs consulting services and performs general lobbying activities with the goal of increasing funding for the district.

The contract will allow firm to continue to provide “sound guidance and expertise to the district” while continuing to assist with the passage of legislation in efforts to “bring additional funding and/or operational flexibility to the district,” according to the agenda packet.

The district said the recent efforts of The DT firm include ACT 91, which increased the substitute staffing flexibility; Act 55, which helped improve teacher reciprocity; and Act 54, which extended the district ride-share agreement and brought in millions of dollars to the district.
