Senate Dems Urge Vigilance: Patience and Voting Key to Protecting Democracy

Senate Democrats are calling on voters to be vigilant as Election Day approaches, releasing a detailed report on what to expect during the vote-counting process. Led by Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the report explains that while millions of Americans are already casting ballots, results in some states may not be immediately available on Nov. 5.

This is due to differences in how states process mail-in ballots, with some allowing ballots postmarked by election day to be counted later. The senators emphasized that delays in counting are normal and not a sign of misconduct.

The report also highlights the importance of rejecting any attempts to undermine public confidence in election results. Senate Democrats are drawing attention to the dangers of the rhetoric, which they say risks further division and violence reminiscent of the Jan. 6th attack on the Capitol.

Sen. Schumer warned that eroding trust in our election process poses a direct threat to democracy.
