Sheriff: Multiple gunshot victims at Iowa high school

(The Center Square) – A Dallas County, Iowa sheriff’s deputy discovered multiple gunshot victims at Perry High School on Thursday morning, Sheriff Adam Infante said.

Infante did not confirm if the victims were injured or deceased or how many there were. He also did not say if the victims were students or faculty.

Police received an active shooter call around 7:37 a.m., Infante said. An deputy responded within seven minutes and found the victims.

There are no threats to the community, but Infante did not say if the shooter was deceased or in custody. Police do know who the shooter is, the sheriff said.

Another news conference will be held later this afternoon, according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

The town is about 45 minutes from Des Moines.
