Thanksgiving Dinner Costs Dip, but Sides Get Pricier

(AURN News) — Thanksgiving did cost less this year — but many of your favorite sides were more expensive. According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the average price of a traditional holiday meal is now $55.18 to feed 10 people.
The AFBF reports that this is a 5% decrease from last year, though still below the record high of $64.05 set in 2022. Turkey prices dropped 16% this year, averaging $1.34 per pound. But several staple vegetables saw sharp increases.

Frozen peas are up 17.2%, a gallon of milk is up 16.3%, 3 pounds of sweet potatoes jumped an extraordinary 37%, and even a 1-pound vegetable tray rose 61.3%.
Regionally, the South had the lowest average cost at $50.01, while the West had the highest at $61.75. When boneless ham, green beans and mashed potatoes were included, the overall cost rose to $71.20 in the South and $84.97 in the West.
