Tramell Tillman Becomes First Black Man to Win Emmy for Supporting Actor in a Drama

Tramell Tillman has made Emmy history, according to Variety. On Sunday night, the “Severance” star became the first Black man to win outstanding supporting actor in a drama series.

His role in Apple TV+’s acclaimed series earned him the honor at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. It marks the last major acting category at the Emmys to finally recognize a Black performer.

Tillman, who is also openly gay, now joins a groundbreaking legacy that includes Viola Davis and Billy Porter.

At 40, he’s quickly becoming a rising star, fresh off a summer blockbuster with Tom Cruise and upcoming roles in Lena Dunham’s “Good Sex” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
