(The Center Square) – President-Elect Donald Trump announced his new chief of staff Thursday.

Trump released a statement naming Susan Wiles, his campaign manager, as his White House Chief of Staff, a powerful role that will give Wiles immense influence in shaping the personnel and policy of the new administration.

“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” Trump said. “Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again.”

Wiles would be the first female White House Chief of Staff in U.S. history.

“I have no doubt that she will make our country proud,” Trump added.

Wiles helped lead Trump’s campaign to a landslide victory this week, taking the popular vote by more than 4 million votes and with Trump expected to surpass 300 electoral votes.

Vice President-Elect J.D. Vance praised the pick on X.

“This is great news. Susie was a huge asset to President Trump on the campaign and will be a huge asset in the White House,” Vance wrote. “She’s also just a really good person. Onward!”
